Parts of the central government budget relevant to the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs

The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs is responsible for preparing the parts of the budget concerning such areas as public health, medical care, social services and social insurance, which aim to create financial security at various stages of life. The Ministry is also responsible for special gender equality measures and support for sport.

In expenditure area 17 – Culture, the media, religious communities and leisure activities – the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs prepares appropriation 13:1 ‘Support for sport’.
Appropriation directions for activities in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs’ areas of responsibility
Once the Riksdag has adopted the central government budget, the Government issues appropriation directions for all appropriations. The appropriation directions set out the agencies’ financial conditions and priorities for the direction of activities for the budget year.
