Goals and visions

The Government’s objective for the policy for civil society is to improve the conditions for civil society as an integral part of democracy. The objective of the policy for religious communities is that support to religious communities is to help create conditions for carrying out active and long-term religious activities.

Civil society

The objective of the policy for civil society is to improve the conditions for civil society as an integral part of democracy. This is to be done in dialogue with civil society organisations by:

  • developing the opportunities of civil society to help people participate based on commitment and a desire to influence their own lives or society in general;
  • strengthening the opportunities for civil society to contribute to the development of society and welfare as a collective voice and opinion-maker, and with a variety of activities; and
  • deepening and spreading knowledge about civil society.

Religious communities

The aim of support to religious communities is that it is to create the conditions for religious communities to conduct active and long-term religious activities in the form of worship, spiritual guidance, teaching and social services.
