A digitally joined-up judicial chain Reference No.: Fact sheet Ju 14.05e
Each year a large number of criminal cases are dealt with by the judicial authorities. To meet the challenges facing the judicial system - and, ultimately, to reduce crime and increase people's security - criminal cases need to be managed more efficiently. To this end, a priority project has been under way for several years to ensure that the authorities in the judicial chain take joint responsibility for, and develop the forms of, the criminal justice process. This is achieved above all by creating opportunities to exchange information electronically. The aim is to make the authorities' operations more knowledge-based and to improve efficiency and quality. This work is intended to create a basis for improved statistics and follow-up concerning crimes and criminality and the activities carried out by authorities in the judicial system.
