"We can learn from one another"
During the final panel discussion at the Northern Future Forum 2012, the nine prime ministers spoke about which ideas they will be taking home from today's and yesterday's talks. Denmark's Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt said that it had been a meeting where "we demonstrate that we don't know it all and that we can learn from one another." It was also decided that the nine prime ministers will meet again in Riga in 2013.

Change of attitude needed to keep more senior people in the workforce
Flexibility, a voluntary basis and respect for the skills and experience of senior people were among the most frequent words heard in the discussion on how the nine prime ministers could increase the proportion of senior people in the workforce. The delegates at the Northern Future Forum seemed to agree that the issue is complex and requires a change of attitude across the whole of society.

Focus on company boards of directors, parental insurance and recruitment
The importance of inexpensive, yet good quality, childcare and shared parental insurance as prerequisites for getting more women onto company boards of directors was discussed during the first session of the conference. UK Prime Minister David Cameron said that everyone agrees on the goal, but the question is how we can speed up the process.

The presentations by the experts on the two main topics of Northern Future Forum have now been published on the web as todays workshops have come to a close.

On 8-9 February 2012, the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic countries and the United Kingdom will meet in Stockholm to discuss common social challenges, as Sweden hosts Northern Future Forum.

Meet the Swedish delegation
Today Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt met the people who will make up the Swedish delegation to the Northern Future Forum on 8-9 February in Stockholm, when the Nordic, British and Baltic prime ministers visit Stockholm. The delegation combines women business leaders, entrepreneurs and journalists who will contribute their personal experience of the main themes during Northern Future Forum: Women entrepreneurs and leaders; and Senior citizens in the labour force.
