New state secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office
The Government has today appointed Per Schlingmann as State Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for communication, and Katarina Areskoug Mascarenhas as State Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for foreign and EU affairs.
Mr Schlingmann will be responsible for the Prime Minister's and the Government's overall communication strategy, including messages and forms of communication for government decisions and reforms. His responsibilities will also include looking at how communication can be shaped by a future perspective and how the Government can, to an even greater extent, participate in public debate and increase dialogue with the public. Mr Schlingmann's most recent position was that of Secretary-General of the Moderate Party and he has previously held the position of Head of Communication for the Moderate Party and leading roles in communication companies. Mr Schlingmann will take up his post on 11 October.
Ms Areskoug Mascarenhas has worked on foreign and EU affairs for almost 20 years, including nine years at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU in Brussels, and at the European Commission. She has also worked on EU enlargement at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Since August 2007 she has been Head of the International and EU Affairs Department at the Prime Minister's Office. Ms Areskoug Mascarenhas will take up her post on 7 October.
Gustaf Lind was today relieved of his duties as State Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office with responsibility for foreign and EU affairs.
