Major global issues of the future

Freedom and security on the Internet are among the great global issues of the future. Freedom on the Internet is a priority throughout the Ministry for Foreign Affairs - in foreign policy, development policy and trade policy.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt has become involved in the international debate in favour of freedom on the Internet. Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson has taken an initiative to increase support to Internet activists in a number of countries. And Minister for Trade Ewa Björling has taken an initiative to strengthen the dialogue with companies on Internet freedom.

For Sweden, it is fundamental that the freedoms and rights that apply offline also apply online.
