State Visit from India, 31 May – 2 June

The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, will pay a State Visit to Sweden from 31 May to 2 June 2015 at the invitation of King Carl XVI Gustaf.

President Mukherjee’s delegation will include political representatives and representatives of the Indian business sector for talks and meetings with Swedish ministers, parliamentarians and business representatives.

The aim of the State Visit is to strengthen Sweden’s long-term political, economic and cultural ties with India. The main themes of the visit are innovations and sustainable development, with a focus on urban development, and science and research, with a focus on life science.

This will be the first State Visit to Sweden by an Indian Head of State. Their Majesties The King and Queen made a State Visit to India in 1993, which was the first Swedish State Visit to the country.

Media representatives need special accreditation from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to cover the State Visit. The last day to apply for accreditation is Thursday 21 May.
