Ewa Björling to take part in by:Larm music festival in Oslo
On 16 February, Minister for Trade Ewa Björling is visiting Oslo, where she will be opening the by:Larm music festival together with the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry and the Danish Minister for Culture.
During the festival, Sweden will be carrying out a special music initiative in collaboration with Export Music Sweden to showcase current Swedish music. Some 20 Swedish artists will be performing, including Anna Järvinen, Tove Styrke and Daniel Norgren.
"Swedish music exports are an important part of the image of Sweden - they put Sweden on the map and are very important to our exports as a whole," says Dr Björling.
Dr Björling's vision of doubling Swedish exports by 2015 underlies the focus on the creative industries, of which music is an important part. A promotion calendar for 2012 has been drawn up to promote the creative industries, and February is the month of music.
During her visit to Oslo, Dr Björling - who is also the minister responsible for Nordic cooperation - will meet her Norwegian colleague Rigmor Aasrud for bilateral talks.
