Statement by Ministry for Foreign Affairs on UN Security Council JIM resolution
Published
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs regrets that it was not possible to agree on a mandate extension for the OPCW-UN Joint Investigative Mechanism (JIM) in the UN Security Council today. Sweden supported the draft resolution which called for an extension of the JIM’s mandate for one year. Sweden has full confidence in the JIM’s professionalism and integrity. It remains a crucial mechanism to hold those responsible for the atrocities involving chemical weapons in Syria to account. Efforts must now continue to unite the Council in support of JIM.
