The Ministry of Education and Research is responsible for preparing the parts of the central government budget concerning such areas as financial support for students, education and academic research and liberal adult education.

 

The Ministry of Education and Research is responsible for preparing the following expenditure areas
Expenditure area 15 Financial support for students
Expenditure area 16 Education and academic research
The ministry of Education and Research is responsible for preparing the following appropriations under expenditure area 17 - Culture, media, religious communities and leisure activities
14:1 Grants to liberal adult education
14:2 Grants to interpreter training
14:3 Special initiatives in liberal adult education
14:4 Special educational support

Appropriation directions for activities in the Ministry of Education and Research’s areas of responsibility

Once the Riksdag has adopted the central government budget, the Government issues appropriation directions for all appropriations. The appropriation directions set out the agencies’ financial conditions and priorities for the direction of activities for the budget year.

Facts

The central government budget comprises some one hundred ‘appropriations’ that describe how much money can be used for a certain activity. The appropriations are divided into 27 expenditure areas.
