On 7–8 November, Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy Ibrahim Baylan will chair the International Energy Agency (IEA) Ministerial Meeting.
Government making broad investments in energy
Energy efficiency measures are key to Sweden achieving its energy policy objectives. The Government is now investing SEK 850 million in more renewable energy, more efficient energy use and more energy and climate advisory services in 2018, with additional funding in 2019 and 2020.

The visit of Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy, Ibrahim Baylan, to Beijing in June contributed to strengthened relations with several of the world’s largest economies and provided opportunities to promote Swedish know-how and companies. Ibrahim Baylan prepares for international energy meeting to be chaired by Sweden
On 2 June, Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy Ibrahim Baylan met the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol, in Stockholm. The meeting was part of the preparations ahead of the IEA Ministerial Meeting in November 2017, which Mr Baylan will chair.

A circular bio-based economy was on the agenda of the National Innovation Council when it met on 1 September 2016. The Government is working on several processes linked to this area. Karl-Henrik Sundström, CEO and Managing Director of Stora Enso, is a member of the Council and spoke at the meeting about how a circular bio-based economy affects Sweden's development and competitiveness.
