President of the United States of America Barack Obama is to host a US-Nordic Leader Summit with the Prime Ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland, and the President of Finland. The summit will be held on 13 May at the White House in Washington D.C.
"The summit in Washington is important for relations between the Nordic region and the United States. For Sweden, it is a good opportunity to develop and deepen our already broad cooperation with the US," says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.
Current international issues and global challenges will be discussed at the summit. The aim is to deepen US-Nordic cooperation in areas concerning European security, transatlantic trade, and the promotion of democratic values.
In the evening of 13 May, President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will host a State Dinner.
