Prime Minister to visit UN and NATO

On 6–12 July, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven will travel to New York to meet the UN Secretary-General and chair a meeting in the Security Council, and to Brussels to take part in a NATO summit.

Sweden will hold the presidency of the Security Council in July. In connection with this, Mr Löfven will travel to New York on 6–10 July to meet leading representatives of the UN, including Secretary-General António Guterres, and chair a meeting in the Security Council.

The agenda includes follow-up of the visit of the Secretary-General and members of the Security Council to Sweden in April, continued discussions on UN efforts to deal with crises and conflicts, UN reform and Sweden’s contributions to greater peace and security.

Mr Löfven will then travel to Brussels to take part in the NATO Summit on 11–12 July. Sweden and Finland have been invited to the Summit in their capacity as NATO enhanced opportunity partners. The agenda includes Sweden’s defence and security policy cooperation with the organisation and the security policy situation in the Baltic Sea region.

More information on Mr Löfven’s programme will be sent to registered journalists. Please register your attendance with Jonatan Holst.
