Prime Minister Stefan Löfven in telephone call with Iraq’s acting Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi
On Monday evening, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven spoke with Iraq’s acting Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi about the latest developments in the region. Prime Minster Löfven conveyed Sweden’s full support for Iraq’s sovereignty and stability.
Prime Minister Löfven underscored the importance of the Global Coalition against Daesh and the common fight against terrorism. He particularly emphasised the importance of the Global Coalition’s efforts to prevent Daesh regaining strength and to ensure international peace and security.
Prime Minister Löfven expressed his deep concern over the missile attacks against military bases in Iraq, where Swedish military personnel are also based, and underscored that all attacks against international troops must be condemned.
Lastly, Prime Minster Löfven emphasised the need for regional dialogue to support de-escalation and political solutions.
