Statement by Ann Linde, Minister for Foreign Affairs

Published

The Greek Government has recently decided not to allow direct flights from Sweden to Greece until after 15 July. This decision is regrettable. It creates both uncertainty and concern for travellers who have planned to travel from Sweden to Greece this summer. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will maintain continuous contact with Greek government ministries and authorities. Swedish tourists may need to consider whether it is appropriate to travel to Greece this summer. Those who choose to travel should prepare thoroughly and stay informed. Travellers are urged to maintain close contact with their travel operators and review their insurance cover. They should also download the MFA’s Resklar app and keep updated on the travel information provided by the Embassy of Sweden in Athens on the Sweden Abroad website.
