New ambassadors to Sweden

Four ambassadors presented their letters of credence to HM The King on Thursday 3 September 2015 in a formal audience at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. A letter of credence is an authorisation issued by an ambassador’s head of state. By presenting letters of credence to Sweden’s head of state, the ambassador can, from today, fully represent his or her country in Sweden.

H.E. Ms Renuka Damayanthie Rajapakse, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s newly appointed Ambassador, Ms Renuka Damayanthie Rajapakse, began her career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. She has been posted to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm since August 2014, first as deputy head of mission and since February this year as chargé d’affaires. In the preceding years, she has held the following positions:

  • 2013–2014: Director-General, responsible for the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Colombo
  • 2009–2012: Head of Division at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, Nepal secretariat
  • 2006–2007: Minister Counsellor at the Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea

H.E. Ms Christine Nkulikiyinka, Rwanda

Rwanda’s newly appointed Ambassador, Ms Christine Nkulikiyinka, born in 1965, was educated and has spent most of her professional life in Germany. She has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since 1991, when she joined the Embassy of Rwanda in Berlin. Ambassador Nkulikiyinka’s recent posts include:

  • 2009–2015: Ambassador to Germany
  • 2006–2009: Consultant in Germany working on translations, protocol assistance for official delegations from Rwanda, organising study trips to Rwanda; intercultural communications teacher
  • 2005–2006: Responsible for activity planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kigali

H.E. Ms Goverdina Christina Coppoolse, The Netherlands

The Netherlands’ newly appointed Ambassador, Ms Goverdina Christina (Ines) Coppoolse, born in 1962, has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1992.

Ambassador Coppoolse has studied international relations. In recent years she has held the following posts:

  • 2012–2015: Head of the Human Resources Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague
  • 2009–2012: Deputy head of the Department for Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague
  • 2005–2009: Deputy head of mission at The Netherlands UN Delegation in Vienna

H.E. Mr Ove Ullerup, Denmark

Denmark’s newly appointed Ambassador, Mr Ove Ullerup, born in 1951, has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1980. In recent years he has held the following posts:

  • 2003–2015: Marshall of the Court to HM Queen Margrethe II
  • 2001–2003: Deputy Director-General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen
  • 1997–2001: Denmark’s Ambassador to Vietnam
