Foreign minister Billström hosted dialogue with OIC ambassadors on Middle East situation

On Thursday 9 November, Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström hosted a dialogue with ambassadors of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was held in light of the war in Gaza. Mr Billström presented Sweden’s position and highlighted Swedish humanitarian aid to Gaza. He also took the opportunity to address topics such as Islamophobia, antisemitism and Quran burnings.
“We had a fruitful and constructive meeting. The ambassadors of the OIC Member States play an important role in explaining our policies to their capital cities, and I am keen to continue our open and constructive dialogue. This was a good opportunity to explain our position,” said Mr Billström.
Representatives of some 20 OIC Member States attended the meeting.
