Swedish and Belgian Prime Ministers to attend memorial on anniversary of 2023 Brussels terrorist attack
Wednesday, 16 October marks the one-year anniversary of the terrorist attack in Brussels, in which two Swedish football fans were killed and a third injured. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander de Croo will take part in a joint wreath-laying ceremony at the site where the attack took place.

Sweden’s Prime Minister receives President-elect of the European Council
President-elect of the European Council António Costa will take office at the beginning of December. On 8 October, Mr Costa was welcomed to Stockholm by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. During a working lunch, they discussed working methods and issues that will be high on the EU agenda going forward.

Sweden’s and Finland’s Governments held historic meeting in Stockholm
On 16 September, Sweden’s Government received Finland’s Government for a joint meeting. They adopted a declaration on enhanced cooperation between the countries, and the countries’ ministers took part in almost 20 visits and activities around Stockholm.

On 16 September, Sweden’s Government received Finland’s Government for a joint meeting. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo also took part in a business seminar held by the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and the Confederation of Finnish Industries to discuss how to jointly enhance Sweden's, Finland's and the EU's competitiveness. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson gave a speech on the occasion.

Swedish and Finnish Governments to hold joint meeting in Stockholm
The Swedish and Finnish Governments will hold a joint meeting on 16 September 2024. Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Finland’s Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will hold a press conference at Rosenbad. Swedish Prime Minister to receive HH the Amir of Qatar
On 2–3 September, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will receive the Amir of the State of Qatar, HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, in Stockholm. The visit will focus on developing Sweden and Qatar’s cooperation in areas such as green transition, infrastructure and health care. It will also provide an opportunity to discuss current foreign policy issues.

Sweden has taken part in NATO Summit for the first time as full member
On 9–11 July, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson took part in the NATO Summit in Washington DC together with Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström and Minister for Defence Pål Jonson. The member states agreed on new support to Ukraine and measures to strengthen NATO’s capability for deterrence and defence. NATO also celebrated its 75th anniversary during the summit.

Sweden attends first NATO Summit as member of the defence Alliance
On 9–11 July, NATO’s 32 member countries are gathering for the NATO Summit in Washington DC. Sweden is represented by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Foreign Affairs Tobias Billström and Minister for Defence Pål Jonson. The Summit is the first one Sweden is attending as a full member of the defence Alliance.

The Government has adopted Sweden’s new national security strategy, which includes five guiding principles for management of Sweden’s security. It constitutes the framework for the Government’s work on national security until 2030.

Fourteenth sanctions package against Russia adopted
The EU has adopted its fourteenth sanctions package against Russia in response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The sanctions aim to further limit the Russian state’s revenues and Russia’s capacity to wage war, and they are an important part of the EU’s support for Ukraine. The new package includes stricter measures targeting the shadow fleet and imports of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Prime Minister received NATO Secretary General
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday 7 June. The agenda included bilateral talks and a demonstration of the Swedish Armed Forces’ activities on naval vessel HSwMS Carlskrona. They also held a joint press conference.

Prime Minister took part in press conference on AI investment in Sweden
On Monday 3 June, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson took part in a press conference together with Microsoft President and Vice Chair Brad Smith. Microsoft announced new investments in Sweden related to AI totalling SEK 34 billion.
