The Swedish National Archives

The Swedish National Archives is the administrative authority for archive issues and has special responsibility for state archives and the preservation and administration of archives around the country. It is responsible for matters such as drawing up regulations and general guidelines on archive management. The Swedish National Archives is also responsible for all matters relating to heraldry and works to ensure regulatory compliance concerning the Swedish flag.

There are also Regional State Archives in Gothenburg, Härnösand, Lund, Täby, Uppsala, Vadstena, Visby and Östersund. The City Archives of Stockholm and Malmö and Värmland Archives in Karlstad carry out certain tasks on behalf of the National Archives.
