Swedish initiative to get Ukrainian products in Swedish shops

Published

A new Swedish initiative to get Ukrainian products in Swedish shops has been presented by representatives of the Swedish Food Retailers Federation, together with Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa. The initiative aims to provide Swedish consumers’ increased access to Ukrainian products and opportunities to support Ukraine at the grocery store.

“Ukraine needs our continued support, and this will make it easier to help out. Today, a major initiative to get more Ukrainian products in Swedish stores has been presented. Swedish consumers will have a wider offering at the grocery store and opportunities to help the Ukrainian people fighting for all of Europe’s freedom and security. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something,” says Mr Dousa.

The three-part initiative includes: an expedited procedure for Ukrainian suppliers, specific marketing of Ukrainian products and donations of equipment such as refrigerated trucks from Swedish supermarkets to Ukraine.

ICA Sverige, Coop and Axfood have already joined the initiative, which is referred to as Trade Nation Sweden Together for Ukraine.

“With this initiative, we aim to make it easier for Ukrainian food companies to reach the Swedish market and thereby contribute to long-term economic development in Ukraine while giving Swedish customers more opportunities to purchase Ukrainian products,” says Eric Lundberg, CEO of ICA Sweden.

“We at Coop are proud to be part of this new Swedish trade initiative for Ukraine. By strengthening our business connections with Ukraine, we strive to contribute to the country’s economic development and promote long-term support to the Ukrainian people. We look forward to exploring the ways in which we can enhance our engagement for Ukraine and offer Coop members and customers more Ukrainian products,” says Anders Torell, Acting CEO at Coop Sweden.

“The Swedish business sector can support Ukraine in many ways. At Axfood, we have created an expedited procedure for Ukrainian suppliers, made private financial donations and donated a number of trucks, refrigerated trucks and supplies based on their indicated needs and requests. This initiative by Swedish Commerce and Mr Dousa to get more of us involved through this initiative is a step in the right direction,” says Peter Holm, Deputy CEO at Axfoods logistics and Dagab.
