Focus on Nordic cooperation as Minister for Civil Defence visits Helsinki

(New version) On 12–13 November, Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin will be in Finland to meet with his Nordic counterparts in the Haga cooperation. The focus will be Nordic preparedness and expanded cooperation.
At the meeting, the ministers will welcome the possibility for the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland Islands to participate in the Haga cooperation at official level. They will also open up for the expansion of the Haga cooperation to include the Baltic countries and other democratic Baltic Sea States when it concerns areas of high regional relevance. The EU’s work on preparedness and NATO’s work on resilience will also be discussed at the meeting.
Minister Bohlin will also meet with Denmark’s Minister for Resilience and Preparedness, Torsten Schack Pedersen. Among other matters, they will discuss the letter of intent on civil preparedness signed by Sweden and Denmark during the summer 2025.

Haga cooperation
The Haga cooperation is a forum for political cooperation between Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway to promote Nordic cooperation on civil defence and crisis preparedness. On 12–13 November, ministers will gather in Helsinki for a meeting chaired by Finland.
