Defence Resolution 2025-2030

The most substantial reinforcement of the total defence since the Cold War is now taking place. Military support to Ukraine

Sweden has contributed military support to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. There has been a significant change in the level and content of the support provided by Sweden: from personal protective equipment in the first decision to tanks, advanced weapons systems and ammunition in later packages. With the support package presented by the Government on 19 February 2026, the total value of Sweden’s military support to Ukraine amounts to approximately SEK 128 billion.

International development cooperation

Sweden has a long tradition of generous and ambitious development aid. Development cooperation is about helping to enable poor people to improve their living conditions. Swedish development aid is often channelled through international organisations such as the UN and the EU. Humanitarian assistance refers to Sweden’s activities to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain the human dignity of those affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts or other similar circumstances.

Cybersecurity

Digital technology now affects almost every aspect of Swedish society and the economy. Technological advancements are emerging at a record pace, and there are no signs of them slowing down. On the contrary, we are facing continued acceleration. As the security situation has deteriorated and cyber threats have increased both in number and complexity, ever greater demands are being placed on Sweden’s capability to secure, protect and strengthen society’s functions – including in the cyber domain.
