The purpose of this policy for the use of cloud services is to contribute to increased security, efficiency and innovation in public administration.

On 11 June, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard received Panama’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Javier Martínez-Acha Vásquez. Topics of discussion for the meeting included current developments in Panama and internationally, digitalisation issues and trade.

Sweden has become a member of the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT). It is a global coalition of countries that jointly drive policy development in telecommunications. In connection to Sweden joining the coalition, the members of GCOT launched Security and Resilience Principles for 6G, which Sweden endorses.

Sweden’s AI Strategy sets the long-term direction of the Government’s work with AI. It also provides guidance for work with AI throughout Sweden. The Government adopted the Strategy in February 2026.

Sweden aims to take a leading role in artificial intelligence. The Government is now presenting a new AI strategy with the aim of providing more effective government agencies, clearer rules for businesses and better conditions for research. The objective is for Sweden to be among the world’s top 10 countries in the field of AI.

On 18–20 February, Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch will be in New Delhi to take part in the AI Impact Summit. The Summit gathers leaders from more than 30 countries and aims to promote international cooperation in the area of AI.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Germany’s Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz have signed an enhanced and expanded Strategic Innovation Partnership between Sweden and Germany. The Joint Declaration of Intent comprises new areas including foreign policy, capital market issues, migration and international development cooperation.

Sweden is already one of the world’s most digitalised countries, and Swedish government agencies have now started using AI to improve both the efficiency and quality of their work.

The upcoming Digital Networks Act (DNA) including a revision of the directive establishing the European Electronic Communications Code (the Code) presents an opportunity to accomplish simplification and efficiency, benefits for and protection of end-users, and harmonisation. The endgame should be a secure, reliable and available digital infrastructure, as well as strengthening the EU’s competitiveness, resilience, investments and innovation.

On Friday 13 June Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for bilateral talks at Rosenbad. During the official visit, Sweden and Vietnam entered into a bilateral sectorial strategic partnership aimed at advancing cooperation in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

More than 600 leading Swedish and international companies, investors and decision-makers gathered in Stockholm on 19 February for the Join Sweden Summit, the Government’s international investment conference that set a new attendance record this year. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson hosted the conference.

In a joint statement, the Nordic and Baltic Ministers of Digitalisation emphasised the importance of enhanced cooperation concerning underwater infrastructure for electronic communication.

In connection with the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Colombia, Minister for Public Administration Erik Slottner is visiting Colombia this week. The aim of his visit is to further develop cooperation on digitalisation and cybersecurity, and to present Sweden as an innovative, sustainable country in the area of digitalisation, with an advanced security approach.
