Country strategy for development cooperation Laos January 2004-December 2008 The overall aim of Swedish development cooperation is to help create conditions whereby poor people may improve their situations. The specific objectives of development cooperation with Laos, as defined in the country strategy, are: - to strengthen Laos's capacity to reduce poverty on a long-term and environmentally sustainable basis - to promote and strengthen conditions for democracy, rule of law and respect for human rights.
