Ambassador Jan Eliasson to represent the Government at state funeral of Kofi Annan

Ambassador Jan Eliasson will represent the Government at the state funeral of Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, in Accra on 13 September.
Kofi Annan was born in Ghana in 1938 and was Secretary-General of the United Nations between 1997 and 2006. In 2001, Kofi Annan and the United Nations were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres will attend the state funeral along with heads of state and government, and other high-level representatives from numerous countries. Jan Eliasson has previously served as President of the UN General Assembly, UN Deputy Secretary-General and Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
