National objective for disability policy

Based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the national objective of disability policy is to achieve equitable living conditions and full participation in society for people with disabilities. This objective will help to increase gender equality and ensure that a child rights perspective is taken into account.

The Government is also proposing a large number of concrete measures in priority areas such as the labour market, education, discrimination, communications, transport and ICT.

In addition, the Government is allocating SEK 14 million per year over a three year period to enhanced support to municipalities and county councils in their disability policy efforts.
