  • Sweden and Denmark adopt declaration marking 25th anniversary of the Öresund Bridge

    1 July 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Öresund Bridge. To mark the anniversary, Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen adopted a declaration with the objective of making the Öresund region safer and more competitive and simplifying living and working across the border.

    On 28 June, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson presented changes in the Government. Two new ministers have been appointed, and two ministers have been given revised areas of responsibility.

    On 24–25 June, the NATO Summit took place in The Hague. Sweden was represented by Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard and Minister for Defence Pål Jonson. The focus of the Summit was the serious security situation and the need for increased investment in deterrence and defence.

Sweden purchases new air defence systems for the Army

To increase the war organisation’s operational capability, the Government has decided to procure air defence materiel for five air defence companies of the Army’s brigades and Battlegroup Gotland.

Cross-party agreement on historic rearmament

On 19 June, the Government, together with the Social Democratic Party, the Sweden Democrats, the Left Party, the Centre Party and the Green Party, presented an agreement to enable a historic expansion of Sweden’s defence to meet NATO’s new defence spending targets. This is a historic show of strength.

Prime Minister receives NATO Secretary General in Stockholm

On Friday 13 June, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for a bilateral meeting. A joint press conference was held at Rosenbad after the meeting.

Ulf Kristersson receives Vietnam’s Prime Minister

On Friday 13 June Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for bilateral talks at Rosenbad. During the official visit, Sweden and Vietnam entered into a bilateral sectorial strategic partnership aimed at advancing cooperation in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
